Embracing the AI & .NET Developer Ecosystem with Telerik MCP Tools

Over the past several months, we have enabled AI-assisted development across our web developer ecosystem through Node.js-based MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers. Developers can quickly start a Telerik MCP server using:

This tooling uses the developer’s seat license to securely connect to the Telerik search index and provide an AI-optimized gateway to component docs, demos and patterns, allowing AI code generation to use the full breadth of Telerik UI capabilities.

While the workflow has been very accessible for teams already working in JavaScript and Node.js environments, it didn’t embrace the .NET ecosystem. Many .NET developers primarily operate in native .NET tools and don’t always have Node.js installed. To address this gap in developer experience, we have pivoted our MCP tools to use NuGet.

With .NET 10: One-Line MCP Tooling via NuGet

The introduction of the new dnx launcher in .NET 10 enables command-line tooling to be distributed and executed directly via NuGet packages—no Node.js required. Once the .NET 10 SDK is installed and dnx is on your PATH, packages can be executed directly using:

dnx <package-name>

This unlocks the same seamless MCP server experience for .NET developers.

We now ship MCP-enabled packages on NuGet.org, allowing you to add Telerik product MCP servers directly to your mcp.json:

We’re thrilled to introduce single sign-on (SSO) to Progress Telerik DevCraft Complete and Ultimate subscription licenses—a new way to streamline authentication and enhance security for your organization. Whether you’re managing a large team or just want a smoother login experience, SSO is here to help.

With SSO, users can log in using their organization’s identity provider, eliminating the need to remember separate credentials. And the best part? You can now set up SAML-based SSO directly through a self-guided process—no support ticket required.

What’s Available Today?

We currently support two paths for enabling SSO:

1. ✅ Self-Guided SAML Setup (Recommended)

You can now configure SSO using SAML directly from your account dashboard. This option supports:

• Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)
• AD FS
• Okta

This is the fastest way to get started with SSO and gives you full control over the setup process.

2. Assisted Setup for Other Providers

If your organization uses a non-SAML identity provider, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. Our support team is ready to help you configure SSO through a guided process tailored to your setup.

How to Set Up SAML SSO (Self-Guided)

Here’s a quick overview of the steps involved in setting up SAML-based SSO:

Step 1: Configure SSO

• Log in to your account.
• If your license is eligible and you are a License Holder or License Manager, you’ll see a banner to Configure SSO or can navigate to Manage SSO from your account settings.

Step 2: Verify Your Domain

To confirm domain ownership:

1. Ask your IT team to add the provided challenge key to your domain’s DNS records.
2. Wait until the key is visible via DNS lookup.
3. Click Verify Domain.

⏳ Your progress is saved, so you can return later to complete verification.

Step 3: Configure Your Identity Provider

Once your domain is verified:

• Register the SAML configuration with your IdP.
• Enter your Metadata URL.
• Map the required claims: email address, first name and last name.
• Verify all URLs are correctly mapped.

⚠️ Important: Incorrect claim mappings will result in login failures. For Okta, make sure to use Name attributes when setting identifiers and claims.

Step 4: Test and Confirm

Test the login URL to verify everything is working. Once successful, you’ll receive a confirmation message that SSO is active.

⚠️ Important: This step is crucial to complete the SSO setup and should not be skipped. You should only proceed to enabling SSO for a specific license after you see the “SSO Successfully Configured” confirmation message.

Step 5: Enable SSO

• Review and confirm that the correct domain is selected for provisioning.
• Click Enable SSO to initiate the setup for the selected license.
• To complete the process, click Apply Changes. This will enable SSO access for all applicable users associated with the license.

Need to enable SSO for additional licenses later?
Simply return to the Manage SSO section in Your Account and repeat this step for any new or existing licenses.

What Happens After SSO Is Enabled?

• Only users assigned to the enabled license(s) with email addresses matching the verified domain will log in via SSO exclusively. Even if these users previously logged in with a username and password, SSO will become the only authentication method, providing a more consistent and secure login experience across your organization.
• These users will receive an email notification with login instructions.
• If a license expires, users can still access via SSO for 10 days. After that, they’ll need to recover their password and log in with their username and password.

Using SSO with NuGet and Visual Studio Extensions

If you’re using the Telerik NuGet server or Visual Studio Extensions (VSX) with SSO enabled:

• Use the literal string api-key as the username.
• Use your personal Telerik NuGet Key as the password.
• You can generate a new Telerik NuGet Key on Your Account | NuGet Keys page.

⚠️ Important: Before enabling SSO for a license, verify that all developers assigned to that license are already using NuGet Keys instead of password-based authentication when accessing the Telerik NuGet feed. This enables uninterrupted access once SSO is enforced and password-based login is no longer available.

The Progress Telerik and Kendo UI AI Coding Assistants were announced on May 28 and with them comes an introductory 30-day period where anybody can get full access. This article is your guide to getting started.

As a reminder, the Coding Assistants integrate with your preferred IDE and are installed as GitHub Copilot Extensions or MCP tools. They are currently available for Telerik UI for Blazor and KendoReact and will be extended to other libraries in the coming months.

These coding assistants are a subscription benefit, but everybody gets full access until June 28.

Who Gets Full Access

• License holders for Telerik DevCraft, Kendo UI, KendoReact and Telerik UI for Blazor with an active maintenance plan are entitled to full access until June 28.
• Those without licenses to the above only need to sign up for a free trial of one of those products and they will also be able to use the AI Code Assistants.
• Those with a subscription to one of the above get full access as part of their package.

How Access Works After June 28

Access to the Telerik and Kendo UI AI Coding Assistants is a subscription benefit. Those who have an active subscription will be granted full access, but we will also provide limited access to others for evaluation.

Currently, access is available for DevCraft, Kendo UI, KendoReact and Telerik UI for Blazor.

Developers can choose the workflow that suits them the best:

The goal is to maintain developer workflows—productivity gains without interruption. GitHub Copilot Extensions and MCP tools work consistently across any IDE/code editor and your choice of AI code generator/models. This way, there is no need for developers to switch context.

The GitHub Copilot Extensions are powered by GitHub apps hosted in the cloud (eventually in the GitHub Copilot Extensions Marketplace). This instills consistency of developer experiences wherever GitHub Copilot is being used. Here’s where to head for the GitHub route:

In November 2025, Microsoft sunset the GitHub Copilot Extensions in favor of the more flexible MCP server technology. In line with that, Progress also deprecated the AI Coding Assistant GitHub Copilot Extensions. The MCP server AI Coding Assistants are active and Progress has released support across several more frameworks since the writing of this post.

Contextual Intelligence

GitHub Copilot is already one of the most popular and productive coding assistants for developers—an AI pair programmer that helps developers write better code. GitHub Copilot is available across a wide variety of developer code editors/IDEs and brings with it access to the latest AI models.

We’re happy to augment the capabilities of GitHub Copilot with two specialized GitHub Copilot Extensions: @telerikblazor and @kendoreact. These extensions bring all the context for Telerik UI for Blazor and KendoReact to enable high-quality AI code generation and minimize the need for developers to spend time reworking generic results.

Agent Mode Confidence

AI is slowly graduating from a pair programmer to a peer programmer. With the latest agent modes, developers can simply chat using natural language to have AI complete multistep complex coding tasks.

Once configured, AI agents have access to Telerik/Kendo UI MCP tooling. Envision the agents having an expert at hand, trained in deeply contextual knowledge about Telerik UI for Blazor and KendoReact respectively. In Agent mode, developers are again free to use whichever AI model works best—the agents simply have more contextual grounding when it comes to Telerik UI for Blazor and KendoReact usage. With metadata, the MCP tools can be automatically invoked by AI agents with any mention of telerik/kendo. To be sure, developers can always use #telerik-blazor-assistant or #kendo-react-assistant in their prompts. Once everything is wired up, developers can fire away coding wishlists as prompts. Live Release Webinars

Once again, we invite you to join us for one or more live webinars for a deeper dive into what’s new in your library of choice.

It will help you to follow along if you download the latest bits. Existing Telerik or Kendo UI customers can do this right from our newly updated Your Account page, or by updating your NuGet package reference to the latest version in your solutions. For our Angular, React and Vue libraries, you just need install the latest npm packages.

Today, the Angular team released their 19th version of this beloved framework, with a cheery overcast to the whole event:

“We’re better when we work together. That is why we have been collaborating with Firebase, Netlify, IDX, Puppeteer, Playwright, Vite and many other ecosystem teams to bring you joy when building web apps.” — Minko Gechev

This does seem to be the vibe, as the team continues to roll out amazing new features for the framework at a consistent pace, making both end users and developers happy.

Minko also went over the most significant innovations as well as the challenges that the Angular team has addressed in the recent versions, in the State of Angular address at NG Belgrade. This included the rise of signals, making Zone.js optional for Angular developers and an overall community-driven approach to development.

In the stream event this morning, many Angular team members presented the latest features of v19 that build upon these most recent monuments.

There is so much to cover and so little time this holiday season, so let’s cover the top three best features in Angular v19 that you really don’t want to miss.

• Signal API Stabilization & Additions
• SSR Updates: Incremental Hydration
• RFC for NEW✨ Style Guide

Signal API Stabilization & Additions

Before Angular v19, Signal and Computed Signals were stable. However, there was a long list of signals (see image below of Jeremy walking through them) that are all now stable too!

Now that those are stable, there are two more feature to the Signals API that are in developer preview for Version 19: linked signals and resource.

Linked Signals Are …

Linked Signals are writable (you can’t write on an input signal, but you can on a linked signal). They have state that depends on another reactive state. A good use case for these would be a writable local state that depends on other signals. So think, “writable input signal.”

→ When expression changes the value of the linked signal changes back to whatever was calculated.
→ “The linkedSignal function lets you create a signal to hold some state that is intrinsically linked to some other state.” — Angular Docs
→ Just like a signal but instead of default value, accepts computation fn.

Resource Is …

Resource is how a signal can asynchronously load data in response to dependencies changing. Resource will expose loaded data as a signal and its loading and error states are signals too.

→ Request is essentially a computed signal of everything you need to make a request.
→ Loader is needed to expose linked data.
→ Resource is somewhat writable as you can change the data coming from the server.
→ RFC coming for resource: names, syntax and features are all going to be discussed and integrated on as the community speaks into this new addition to the framework.

There is a rxResource version too, and Deborah Kurata made a killer video on rxResource() vs. Resource() that is worth checking out. I’ve invited her to come on Angular Air and talk about these further with us on December 5th. So come join the stream and ask all your burning signal questions!!

SSR Updates: Incremental Hydration

In v16 Angular offered full application hydration support, in v17 deferrable views, in v18 eventReplay. All three of these have led us to now, the ability to offer incremental hydration. However, in order to fully understand how amazing this feature is, perhaps some SSR back story is needed.

Full application hydration in v16 came with a flicker/layout shift cost. Deferrable views reduced the JS that needed to be initially loaded and fixed potential layout shifts with placeholders, giving us a better form of hydration in our Angular apps. However, placeholders came with a cost, the placeholder content need to be replaced and, before it was, it had no interactivity.

Incremental hydration is rendering the main template on the server side, so that it should look like it will after the defer block is triggered and then, on the client side, leaves that content dehydrated. So the content is the real deal, no placeholder needed. But, being in a defer block, as one would expect, we are skipping the JS download.

Here is a look at how to implement incremental hydration; it is an additional option now for defer blocks:

So now, the obvious next question: What happens if someone tries to interact with this content that hasn’t been hydrated yet?

Uncanny Valley

There is an SSR term called the “uncanny valley” that describes the state of your server-side rendered application when JS/Angular hasn’t loaded yet. If a user tries to click on something, nothing happens, because the application isn’t fully hydrated yet.

The Angular team’s answer to the un-hydrated not-interactive content bits (or uncanny valley), is the previously released feature, EventReplay! Event replay allows developers to capture events triggered during the uncanny valley. Then, start hydrating the content and replay the event when the JS is loaded and ready.

Incremental hydration is so powerful, especially combined with EventReplay. But the features don’t stop there! It also comes with a new trigger (never) that can be used to tell things like static blog content to never hydrate, which is a great way to reduce the overhead of your apps!!

To start using incremental hydration, add provideClientHydration(withIncrementalHydration) to your application’s providers, and then you can start using the hydration triggers in your defer blocks!

RFC for NEW✨ Style Guide

This one is not strictly an Angular feature that was released this version. However, it does highlight the heart of the Angular movement right now—community-driven development to bring developers joy. I am so excited about an updated style guide and the request for comments is currently still open. The Angular team wants to hear from you as they shape the future of our most wonderful framework. So check it out and give your thoughts!!

That’s a Wrap

There were many other highlights, like for instance, standalone is now the default. No more saying standalone: true when you’d like to reach for the latest. The CLI with ng update command is going to be clutch for this, so that you don’t have to flip your standalone flags manually. There are also three new refactoring tools in v19 as well as ASL refactoring directly in your IDE that are SUPER helpful with all of these new features rolling out quicker than light.
