To ensure compliance with these sanctions, we have decided that, effective immediately, we will cease to conduct business with new or existing customers in Russia, Belarus, Crimea, the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic regions of Ukraine, which are the areas covered by the sanctions. We have also notified partners to let them know that they will be unable to sell Progress products in these countries and regions.
The amount of annual revenue we generate in Russia and the other areas covered by the sanctions is not material as a percentage of our total revenue, so we are not expecting the sanctions to significantly impact our financial results. That said, we are deeply concerned for our friends and family in Ukraine and the region in general and are hopeful that the conflict will come to a quick resolution, ensuring the long-term safety of the Ukrainian people.
]]>The Microsoft MVP Summit is almost upon us! There will be so much to learn, network and enjoy in the heart of Microsoft campus. We know you'll all be busy during the Summit, but Progress loves Microsoft MVPs, Regional Directors, and Insiders. We also know how much you like products and want to thank you for spreading the love. So, come party with Progress during this year's MVP Summit. Yes, this is a post to announce a party!
What: Progress Influencers Party!
Where: Lucky Strike Bowling, 700 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue WA 98004
When: Monday, March 5, 2018 at 6-9 PM
If you're already sold, stop reading and sign up for our party!
For many of us, the biggest value of MVP Summit is the networking opportunity; we get to hang out with some of the brightest minds in the industry and broaden our horizons. So, who can you expect to find at the Progress Influencers Party? How about tons of Microsoft MVPs, Regional Directors, and Insiders from across a wide variety of technologies? Or, perhaps you'll see a few of "blue badge folks" in attendance, representing .NET, Xamarin, ASP.NET and Visual Studio teams.
We're looking forward to playing host to you for the evening. There, you'll find Progress Developer Advocates, Product Owners, Marketing & Events folks. Using Telerik tools, Kendo UI, Test Studio or NativeScript for your projects? Good or bad: we're "all ears" for your feedback. You'll find us in custom retro-themed bowling shirts!
Hand-crafted drinks? Check. Yummy appetizers? Done.
Let's sweeten the deal for you: we developers are known to trade our souls for laptop stickers. Come find some in swanky Telerik Ninja or Kendoka glory!
Also, everyone who walks in, gets our custom-made MVP Summit t-shirt!
You're welcome.
We hope you'll love the t-shirt and wear it with pride during the MVP Summit. As an added incentive, if you're wearing our shirt, just flag down one of us during the event. We might provide you with a little something. We'll be in Seattle where it's often overcast with rain. Who would't like a good cup of coffee? (You get the hint.)
Yes, we'll be at a fancy bowling alley and it is your opportunity to earn some street credibility. Strikes, spares, splits, gutter balls - bring them all. Tricks shots and scenic routes encouraged. Beat your buddies at a full game? Come see us for instant rewards.
We appreciate your pursuit of perfection. We love smashing bugs too! As it turns out, our mascots are pretty good at this. Come play a really cool video game we've built where you kill bugs for high scores. You're going to need fast fingers and great hand-eye coordination!
And yes, you will be playing the game in a giant bowling alley screen and the leaderboard will be up too. Prizes for highest scores at the top of each hour - you guessed it. Value? Let's just say you can take your whole team out for coffee.
That's it then. You're invited to come party with us. It will be after the first day of MVP Summit. Your brain would have been bombarded with tons of exciting information. Time to take a deep breath and hang out with your cohorts over drinks, bowling, and gaming. It's all happening at the Progress Influencers Party. Come join the fun!
]]>BASTA! has been a leading conference for .NET, Windows & Open innovation for more than 20 years. As the development scene has been changing so has the format of event, and it now also includes a lot of sessions and topics on JavaScript, as well as cloud services and providers.
Since we missed the show in 2017, we are very happy to be back at BASTA! Conference in 2018, both on the conference floor and on stage. Oh, yes! We'll have a session on Xamarin and memory optimization, but more on that later. First, let me introduce the team:
Tsvyatko Konov Pavlina Hadjieva Dobrin Grancharov
We are quite friendly and would love to meet up with you and talk, so if you see us please don’t be shy and come right over! You can find us under the big light box with the Progress logo and right beside our favorite Telerik Ninja and Kendoka characters. Additionally, we will be around for the event networking sessions and parties - basically all around.
At the booth we'll have some pretty cool product demos in store for you, where you can learn more about the Telerik and Kendo UI products. The demo sessions will cover web, mobile and desktop development and will include something for both the C# devs as well as the JavaScript audience, ranging from Xamarin, UWP, WPF and AJAX, all the way to React, Vue, Angular and jQuery.
You can also score an individual product demo, just make sure to look us up and come by.
Our Manager of Engineering for Xamarin, Tsvyatko, will be giving a talk on how to better optimize memory when building Xamarin mobile apps. He has extensive experience in building mobile apps and knows this topic like the back of his hand, and he's bound to have some good advice and best practices for you.
Here's the info on where and when to catch his session:
Where: Alabaster 1+2 hall
When: Tuesday (20 Feb) 2:15-3:15pm
One cannot argue that apart from getting to meet like-minded fellow developers and learn more about the latest trends in the industry, conferences are a great place to get geared up with some sweet prizes and SWAG.
For BASTA!, we will be raffling off a pair of Bose QC headphones (yes, these are one of the best noise cancelling headphones) and also giving away tons of sweet sweet t-shirts and stickers, as well as some pretty awesome laptop cases (see image below if you don’t believe me )
Cool, right? :) Your very own will be waiting for you at our booth, so come pick it up!
We are looking forward to all the great talks at the conference and meeting with you. See you there!
]]>Looking forward to DEVintersection 2017? So are we! There are bound to be some amazing announcements. We will be there too (booth #111), so make sure to stop by, meet the team and discuss the latest trends in tech, including our Telerik UI for Xamarin, Telerik UI for UWP, Kendo UI and Telerik Reporting. We have some cool SWAG too.
DEVintersection starts in just a few days and the excitement around the event is growing by the minute. As usual, there are high expectations for the conference with various sessions and talks by some of the biggest names in the industry.
We wouldn’t miss the conference for the world and as usual the cool guys from the Product and Developer Relations teams will be present there. Head over and meet us at Booth 111, where we will have some great product demos, theater sessions and prize giveaways. We'll also be giving out our epic Telerik and Kendo UI T-shirts and a big prize: MICROSOFT XBOX ONE X.
Let me reveal a little secret about our product sessions at the booth: We're coming with the very people who personally developed the great advancements in our Telerik and Kendo UI products.
Telerik UI for Xamarin: We are excited to show you our Xamarin UI suite. It is all about beautiful, polished and elegant UI widgets for building cross-platform Xamarin applications. Telerik UI for Xamarin comes complete with predefined item templates for Visual Studio. They are included by default when you install the products. You can directly include them in your Xamarin.Forms project and use them as footprints for similar scenarios in your application.
Kendo UI: We are proud to present the most complete UI library for data-rich web applications with support for your favorite JavaScript technologies – jQuery, Angular, React and Vue. We are pleased to announce new support for React and Vue with our Kendo UI wrappers for these frameworks. You get the same great Kendo UI component features that you have come to rely on, now provided via a wrapper interface for the React and Vue frameworks.
Telerik UI for UWP – Open Sourced! We are thrilled to provide you with UI for Universal Windows Platform - a complete UI suite for building amazing Windows 10 applications with a single code base. Completely Open Sourced!
Telerik Reporting: We are excited to present you our complete and mature reporting solution. You'll see how to build, style, view and export elegant reports seamlessly and very quickly.
Meet our visionaries and trend-setters @ DEVintersection:
Looking for us at the conference? Just hunt down our Ninja and Kendoka and our smiling faces will greet you. You can check out more details about all our sessions and everyone you'll meet at our booth right here.
See you at DEVintersection! ]]>“Predictions about technology increasingly become predictions about what disrupts our lives,” said Erik van Ommeren, Research Director at Gartner, during this year’s edition of DigitalK, one of the biggest technology, entrepreneurship and marketing events in Southeastern Europe, which took place on June 8-9 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Every session of the event seemed to prove his words while making it clear that the future of technology is already here—Artificial Intelligence is no longer a buzzword borrowed from sci-fi movies. It is here to stay and change our everyday lives.
Organized by Capital, one of the leading business publications in Bulgaria, and the two venture capital funds, LAUNCHub Ventures and NEVEQ, every year the conference gathers around 2,500 business and marketing professionals and entrepreneurs from the region. Together they map the impact new technologies will have on various spheres of our lives, from finance and transportation to productivity, culture, entrepreneurship and education. Progress has been a partner of the event for several years now.
This year, the event featured an impressive lineup of globally renowned speakers. Brock Pierce, chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation, presented on how the proliferation of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies will democratize access to capital. For the first time in the history of blockchain technologies, more startups are raising funding through an “Initial Coin Offering” (ICO) than through venture and stock investments. The Bitcoin business model falls into the popular trend of offering a decentralized, shared economy application that enables people to make a profit from monetizing their resources. Other companies operating with such business models are Uber and Airbnb.
Artificial intelligence and IoT were among the other hot topics on the event’s agenda. Evan Nisselson, general partner at LDV Capital, talked about the “Internet of Eyes” and the importance of vision for the success of AI. Autonomous cars, for example, can’t exist if they cannot see. Nisselson showed on the screen a miniature camera, as small as a dot on one’s finger, which, he believes, will replace doctors’ stethoscopes. When swallowed, it can generate data about the patient’s current health status through its AI-enabled vision. It won’t be long until all this becomes an inseparable part of our daily lives. According to one of the next speakers, by 2020 the average person will have more conversations with chatbots than with their spouse.
A big chuck of the event’s agenda was dedicated to entrepreneurship. Parallel to the regular speaking sessions, there was a startup contest running. Several fireside discussions and speakers explored the challenges and opportunities facing companies starting up. You didn’t have to be an entrepreneur to get inspired by Adeo Ressi, CEO of the Founders Institute, who delivered one of the most engaging and passionate talks. Kicking off the event on its second day, he inspired everyone in the audience to believe there was an entrepreneur living in all of them. Through a set of instructions, including how to find your calling and how to attract supporters for your startup idea, he encouraged everyone in the audience to start a company now. Whether you planned to start a company or not, Ressi’s talk provoked you to think of the areas in your life where you want to have an impact and leave a trace.
In conclusion, DigitalK was a solid reminder that technology world is speeding so fast around us that just in several years’ time we’ll communicate, work and live in a totally different way. As we think about the cognitive-first future before us, the key takeaway of the two days was that the technologies of the future are already here. It’s only a matter of time before we start seeing more of them in our everyday lives.

]]>What a better time to win more friends of SOS Children’s Villages than on International Children’s Day? On June 1-2, we welcomed to our office in Sofia representatives of the initiative who presented their special program for individual donors, SOS Friend (you can see a few pictures below). Through small monthly donations individual donors can contribute to making the lives of underprivileged kids better. According to SOS Children’s Villages website, this type of funding provides long-term high-quality care for 500 underprivileged kids in Bulgaria. Almost 50 colleagues became individual donors and even more had already joined the program in its previous campaigns in our office. Joining the SOS Friend club means not only providing financial support but also accompanying the kids to their future life.
Every year, on several occasions, we get together with the families we support to socialize and have fun. For example, last year, around the Christmas holidays, we had one of the families visit us in our office for a festive lunch. We also played games, talked about the kids’ dreams and successes and exchanged gifts. The previous summer, we got together over a barbecue lunch close to their house and had lots of fun playing volleyball, soccer and badminton. With every past meeting, we see how the kids have changed and made the next stroll to becoming good and responsible adults. We’re excited to see them happy about the positive changes in their lives - from new friends to first jobs—and feel privileged to be by them.
We are proud to share that at the beginning of the year, SOS Children’s Villages in Bulgaria presented us with an award for Most Valuable Corporate Partner. Needless to say, we were more than thrilled to receive the recognition because nothing compares to giving meaning to someone else’s life and making it fuller.
In conclusion, we want to leave with a quote from the lucky charms that the SOS Children’s Villages representatives gave away during the campaign on June 1-2: “If I could take down a star any time you’ve made me smile, I’d have the entire sky in my arms.” We’re tremendously happy to be part of the initiative’s big family and contribute to making its kids’ lives better.
]]>We’re proud to share that Progress has just been named a Leader by Gartner in their Mobile Application Development Platform (MADP) Magic Quadrant. We believe this is a testament to the strength of our strategy, both in vision and in execution. We couldn’t have done it without the support of the developer community, from your feedback on our UI components to contributions to our open source NativeScript framework—thank you!
We are excited because this recognition highlights the capability of our portfolio to make the life of today’s developer as easy as possible. From industry leading UI tools that essentially provide a building block for your entire front-end to help build engaging, modern app experiences, to versatile development, testing and analytics tools to power your backend, we’ve developed a suite of tools designed by, and specifically for, developers and their needs.
In particular, I want to highlight NativeScript. {N} adoption has taken off lately with over half a million downloads, and we believe its development was a key factor in moving us from a Visionary to a Leader in the Gartner report. I would also like to give a nod to Kendo UI for Angular. Whether you develop Angular apps with TypeScript or JavaScript, Kendo UI for Angular delivers true Angular UI components, not just wrappers for existing components. In tandem with our Backend Services, these are critical parts of our vision to make cross-platform native mobile development truly easy for developers.
Our mission has always been to enable our developers with the best tools—helping you not only weather technology changes but thrive through them. From desktop to web to mobile, we have been at the forefront of application development as it has evolved. We are excited that feedback from our community as a whole as well as Gartner continue to show us we are heading in the right direction, and we are looking forward to continue to helping you achieve your goals as they advance.
Gartner Peer Insights provides verified user ratings and peer reviews by end-users, customers and partners. The Progress product portfolio has more than 110 customer reviews, to date. If you are looking for more information on what other developers think, check it out. If you are a user, please feel free to contribute your own thoughts!
We’re committed to continuing to make your lives as developers easier both today and for the long haul. To learn more about our selection as a Leader in the 2017 Gartner Mobile Application Development Platform Magic Quadrant, you can read more here.

]]>Micorosft /build starts in just a few days and the excitement around the event is growing by the minute. As usual, there are high expectations for the conference with large announcements by Microsoft and various sessions and talks by some of the biggest names in the industry.
There is no question that Build offers great opportunities to connect attendees, be it around the conference floor or at the various surrounding events and parties, and we have already marked a few meetups on our calendars. We will be hosting a Progress Telerik party too, so should you arrive in Seattle a day sooner, drop by the TapHouseGrill after 7pm on the 9th of May for a few drinks and snacks on us. Let’s get this conference started! RSVP here and get some cool swag too.
We wouldn’t miss the conference for the world and as usual the cool guys from the Product and Developer Relations teams will be present there. Head over and meet us at Booth 108, where we will have some great product demos and prize giveaways, as well as giving out our epic .NET Ninja Returns t-shirts.
At Build 2016, John Bristowe talked about NativeScript and VS Code. It’s a great honor for us to have him speaking at the conference this year again. He will be hosting a session on “Creating Custom UI Controls in XAML,” focusing on the end-to-end control development of what is needed to ensure a great custom piece of UI. Stay tuned for details on the time and location.
If you haven’t had a chance to play around with our UI controls for Xamarin, you can get a product demo at our booth. You can also score one of 100 UI for Xamarin licenses by tweeting the answer to “What would you build with UI for Xamarin?” with #TelerikUIforXamarin.
What would you build? (Tweet this)
You can see the full terms, plus learn more about what we're up to at Build right here.
Windows 10 has seen growing adoption among desktop users and is now the second most used OS in the world, making up about 25% of the market. With this shift towards the new OS, more and more Win32, WinForms and WPF applications will have to be converted to UWP through the Desktop Bridge and many more will be created from scratch. In a survey over 52% of /build keynote watchers said they will move to Windows 10 soon because of Bash.
As usual, the creation of UI elements can be a handful, when it comes to timely delivery. However, if you are in need UWP UI—do not despair. As of the beginning of this year, UI for UWP is open-sourced and available on GitHub. You can get a UI for UWP demo by the same developers who build the product at our booth.
Looking for us at the conference? Just hunt down the green .NET Ninja and our smiling faces will greet you.
It has been a great year for Microsoft so far and we expect the conference to bring some more juicy announcements. Can’t wait!

]]>The goal of NativeScript Developer Day is to be a community event. To this end, while our speaker list includes members of the NativeScript and Developer Relations teams here at Progress, the majority of the sessions are from speakers who have real-world experience developing mobile applications. If you are already a NativeScript developer or you've just been curious to hear what all the hype is about—this is your opportunity to get the details you need from the experts who know!
The other important aspect of making this a community event was affordability. You can purchase tickets to the full-day hands on workshop teaching you how to build mobile apps with Angular 2 and the full day conference for just $35 a day! Yes, that's a full day event, plus lunch, plus networking social for just $35.
You can get full details about the schedule and speakers and more at the NativeScript Developer Day site.
This event is going to be tons of fun—and a great chance to meet other developers focused on mobile development and NativeScript. Tickets for NativeScript Developer Day are already on sale. Seating (especially for the full-day, pre-conference workshop) is limited, so don't hesitate.
]]>It does change the way you open a ticket a bit, and if you are in a hurry, jump to the short video tutorial below to explore the new process.
Here I'll list the steps, explain what they do and how to use the interface. After a quick read, you'll be an expert in using integrated search. Following the steps, there is a short video that walks you through the process.
